And this is
the whole point. Labels and publishers can no
longer rely on what they receive in the post
and need to be able to find music, composers
and performers when they want to and when
they need to. In these days of restricted
A&R budgets it is far too risky for a
performer to send out a CD in the hope that
it will a) be listened to, b) be what the
label is looking for at that particular time.
So, even if
what you send in is good but not what the
label needs right now the chances of your CD
being kept, remembered and found again at the
right time are pretty small.
